1. Choosing the Right Microphone for the Job
Built-in camera and laptop microphones capture ambient room reflections and background echo because they are positioned far from the speaker's mouth. Professional video production relies on dedicated external microphones:
- Lavalier (Lapel) Microphones: Small clip-on mics placed near the chest. Excellent for dialogue, interviews, and mobile presentations because they maintain consistent distance from the voice.
- Shotgun Microphones: Highly directional microphones mounted overhead on a boom pole or camera shoe. They reject off-axis side noise and isolate the target subject.

2. Microphones Placement: Proximity is King

3. Room Acoustic Treatment
Hard surfaces like glass windows, hardwood floors, and concrete walls reflect sound waves, creating hollow room reverb. Simple acoustic dampening techniques include:

4. Setting Target Audio Levels
